Tuesday, May 9, 2023, may be the last time we have nice enough weather for it to be enjoyable. The attention to detail and the preservation of this arid ecosystem are commendable, and it's an ideal place to reconnect with nature and enjoy a peaceful respite from the bustling city. The Desert Botanical Garden (in Phoenix) offers free general admission on the second Tuesday of each month. Whether you're strolling along the well-maintained paths or sitting in one of the shaded areas, you'll find yourself immersed in the serene beauty of the surroundings. The juxtaposition of vibrant desert flowers, towering cacti, and the unique desert landscape creates a captivating visual spectacle. The scenery at the Desert Botanical Garden is nothing short of breathtaking. Plus, the convenience of air-conditioned bathrooms throughout the premises enhances the overall experience. Moreover, the garden ensures visitor comfort with plenty of shaded areas to seek respite from the sun, as well as numerous water fountains equipped with water bottle stations. For instance, if you're more drawn to wildlife, you'll find yourself surrounded by an ample amount of ground squirrels and lizards that add a touch of liveliness to the environment. While the gardens boast a multitude of stunning flora, including a diverse range of cacti and desert plants, there are other attractions to appreciate. The Desert Botanical Garden offers a delightful escape into nature's wonders, even for those who may not have a particular interest in plant life. This shows a nice side of Phoenix and as a desert geek by highly recommend going I know it can be crowded at times but maybe you can check and find what times are less crowded when we went it wasn't too bad. Several that are indoor are in darkened rooms which make for a even more extraordinary presentation. For the third time, Dale Chihuly is back to the Sonoran Desert to showcase his stunning masterpieces at the Garden-the remarkable Chihuly glass exhibit has 18 different installations both indoor and outdoor and just amazing to see. I know they work hard too have a butterfly garden as well which would be lots of fun to see. I certainly would go to the spring wildflower viewing once the cactuses started to Bloom and maybe some of the desert wildflowers started to bloom. They had an upcoming scavenger hunt for the kids which would help them learn to identify the different plants in the Botanical garden. They have activities designed specifically for children to help them learn how to garden. I think every time you would visit you would find something new that you hadn't seen before 55 acres is quite a lot. There are lots of wonderful photographic opportunities. If I had a membership it'd be kind of a fun date to go back in the evening to see how the light displays the glass exhibits ( I think that's once a month). I felt lucky because really the exhibit is only around till June although there is some permanent displays that he donated to the desert botanical garden. Not only did we see the wonderful botanical exhibits representing the Southwest and desert countries around the world we are able to see the Chihuly glass exhibit at the Desert Botanical Garden. It's a wonderful experience and I'm sure I just got a taste of it we spend about four hours there. Had a very nice friend take me as a guest with her membership.
